It’s neither RedBull nor Hagrid’s hippogriff; it’s the flyovers in Karachi that give you wings. Be it the most amazing views of North Karachi ki Paharian from Nagan Chowrangi or the beautiful post-maghrib street lights on Karsaz – Flyovers are here to mesmerize all of us, all the time.
As you zoom across one and look around, aap hayraan reh jaao ge boss. Street lights casting pools of warm orange light down onto the streets are noticeable along with the areas facing load shedding too. From slums to skyscrapers, Land Rovers to rickshaws, hospitals to hotels, signal towers to minarets, billboards to buses, you’ll be able to see it all. It is one way of exploring this beloved city, in a much broader perspective that you could ever experience elsewhere. Even a bird’s eye view from an airplane gets marred by tufts of clouds coming in your way. However, flyovers give you a view of your very own city as clear as crystal!
You no longer need to yearn for the Aladdin’s magic carpet! Whether it be the Nagan Chowrangi flyover or the Shaheed-e-Millat wala, flyovers in Karachi take you places in no time at all. Blink in and out and tadaa! You’re at your destination. Some of the most decent cars even lost some of the momentum inkay upper jatay hue.. Aur na bhoolna, all kudos to Mustafa Kamal for accomplishing this feat. Signal-free corridors, flyovers, overhead bridges, ye sab ke buss ki baat nahin dost!
Aur jee haan, no need to wait for Milad-un-Nabi or Chaand Raat to get a taste of colored lights, KPT flyover hai na! A row of lights run along its length and change color form blue to red to green. It is indeed an enjoyable spectacle as you whiz across the city on this three-tier flyover – the first of its kind in the whole of Pakistan. Be proud, Karachi waalon!
And the recent Tipu-Sultan Flyover on Shahrah-e-Faisal with cool painting from Students of Arts Council Academy? Check that out too if you haven’t already. It says Karachi Aman Ka Shehr. Pretty cool, eh!
While underpasses in Karachi get converted into lakes of muddy water during the monsoon, it is the flyovers that remain intact, standing high and mighty above the City of Lights. Within a span of seven to eight years, our city has undergone development on a huge scale. And flyovers will forever be a part of it. They’ve made Karachi a metropolis, made people forget Super Highway and given us Karachiites an escape from the never-ending “terrific” jaam!
Speaking of traffic jam, there is a dire need of a flyover to be built along the MA Jinnah Road, from Jamia Cloth Market to Tower and at Al Asif square near Sohrab Goth. So that the everyday problem of traffic jam there should be resolved. The Bacha Khan flyover’s construction should be done as soon as possible too. More flyovers = more time and fuel ki bachat!
So, my dear Karachi walon, on a windy evening, when the oonchi oonchi buildings block the refreshing breeze from coming your way, make a trip across the city just to enjoy the flyovers: Roll down the window( if traveling in a car, warna Bikes tou always FTW :p ) and enjoy the awesome hawa go through your hair and whistling into your ears. Let the city take you on top of the world!
Never had a trip across the Sydney Harbor Bridge or the Golden Gate one? Still deeming yourself unlucky that you haven’t? Think again! Karachi ke flyovers Zindabad!

Well-written. Good job!
For the sake of fairness, there should be at least one mention of the choking pollution
Why show negativity and tamper the beauty?
We are educated enough and aware that what happens when we spread such pollution but still we are the one to contribute to. Aren’t we?
to it*
Karachi’s Flyovers and Karachi itself is so well described that it can allure anybody, literally ANYBODY to have a dream to come and visit Karachi, one time in their life.
Good Job..
